Toll Brothers Partners with HomeAid
Atlanta – February 25, 2022 – HomeAid Atlanta, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education, kicked off 2022 partnering with national home builder Toll Brothers for two HomeAid Care Days. As part of Toll Brothers’ national commitment to giving back to the community, local divisions and departments are encouraged to bring employees together on an annual basis to give back to local charities with which they feel a connection. HomeAid Care Days provide free facility maintenance, upgrades, and repairs for organizations that provide housing and supportive services for families and individuals experiencing homelessness. Thanks to donations of materials and the hard work of Toll Brothers volunteers under the leadership of HomeAid, the two Care Days provided a total savings of more than $8,000 for The Drake Village and Covenant House Georgia.
On January 18, Toll Brothers Alpharetta employees joined HomeAid at The Drake Village in Roswell for the first Care Day of the year. Volunteers spent the day building a new walking path at the facility that provides a lifeline of supportive housing and enrichment programs for mothers and their children experiencing homelessness in north metro Atlanta. The group cleared debris, created the path, and spent lots of time hauling and spreading more than seven tons of gravel to pave the path. The group worked hard and achieved more than anticipated, despite freezing temperatures. Unlimited Landscaping donated gravel and lumber needed for constructing the path, and volunteer Harrison Parvey, Toll Brothers Atlanta Division Construction Manager, went above and beyond in coordinating project details.
On February 11, volunteers from Toll Brothers Georgia Atlanta Urban joined HomeAid for a Care Day at Covenant House Georgia. Volunteers painted an expansive hallway in the youth shelter and assembled six new picnic tables for the facility’s courtyard, which were already in use by the end of the day. Covenant House Georgia serves youth experiencing homelessness with unconditional love and absolute respect, while providing immediate needs, education and vocational skills.
“It was a wonderful experience to work with Toll Brothers and we sincerely appreciate their hard work, generosity, and enthusiasm to make such an impact on these two facilities. Toll Brothers’ volunteer efforts made a big difference for the residents of The Drake Village and Covenant House; it shows them that they are valued,” said Karen McLane, HomeAid Atlanta Director of Community Engagement.
HomeAid Atlanta is a nonprofit organization founded in 2001, with a mission to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education. HomeAid builds, renovates, and maintains facilities for nonprofits serving people experiencing homelessness. HomeAid has completed over 170 construction projects at locations for victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, veterans and more, utilizing connections with building industry professionals and community organizations.
