Century Communities Supports HomeAid

Atlanta – October 14, 2021 – Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, HomeAid Atlanta is a nonprofit organization with a mission to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement and education. Throughout this milestone year, the Atlanta division of top 10 national homebuilder Century Communities has provided generous support through in-kind and financial contributions to HomeAid.

In April and May, Century Communities Atlanta employees provided major support for HomeAid Atlanta’s 20th Annual Essentials Drive. Through an office-wide campaign, nearly $7,000 was collected in support of HomeAid’s annual drive, with the funds used to purchase diapers and baby wipes for 23 metro Atlanta organizations serving families in need.  Since 2002, the Essentials Drive has collected 1.5 million baby items.

On June 11, Century Communities donated cabinetry, furniture, appliances and more to HomeAid in support of the nonprofit’s upcoming renovation project at Making A Way Housing. Upon the decision to renovate its Norcross showroom, Century Communities wanted the showroom’s furniture items, valued at nearly $25,000, to be used in service to people in need. The donated items will be integral in keeping construction and furnishing costs down for HomeAid and Making A Way Housing. This project is one of eleven HomeAid Atlanta projects in progress in 2021.

Century Communities’ support didn’t stop there. On September 24, its team joined a HomeAid Care Day at Forsyth County Family Haven where volunteers painted several rooms and completed landscaping tasks at the 21-bed living facility that offers a safe place for women and children who have suffered domestic violence. Since 2008, HomeAid Care Days, powered by building industry volunteers, have provided more than $845,000 in free facility maintenance, upgrades, and repairs for organizations that provide housing and services for families and individuals experiencing homelessness.

Century Communities participated in HomeAid’s 19th Annual Hope & Homes Golf Tournament with a foursome and as a sponsor on October 12. Century Communities will also provide support for the Thanks for Giving Drive, an outreach initiative led by HomeAid Atlanta and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s Young Professionals Group. The drive raises funds for Thanksgiving food baskets for working homeless families in metro Atlanta.

“We are so grateful to have the Century Communities team as a part of our HomeAid Atlanta family! They have provided generous support for nearly all of our programs and projects this year ensuring that we continue to pursue our mission to build a future without homelessness,” said HomeAid Atlanta Executive Director Mandy Crater.

In addition to providing major support for housing and outreach initiatives, Greg Ott, metro Atlanta division president, has served on the HomeAid Atlanta Board of Directors since February 2020.  “Giving back to the place you call home by working together towards a shared goal is what community is all about,” he says. “Working together as a team and joining up with other volunteers helps us grow and demonstrates how much one person can positively impact another person's world. We are honored to have had the opportunity to give back to our community through HomeAid's outreach programs. We look forward to continuing our commitment and partnership with our HomeAid Atlanta family.”

These year-round efforts build upon the homebuilder’s partnership with HomeAid Atlanta, committed to volunteering its industry expertise and donating resources to add value to the communities it serves. This summer, HomeAid Atlanta also engaged the homebuilder’s Century Complete division in Atlanta, who supported the renovation of Lotus House at North Georgia Angel House. Century Complete led the project’s design, project management, renovation/trades, and provided materials. The project spanned about 60 days, with about ten Century Complete team members involved and approximately 30-40 tradesmen. The home now serves as a refuge for six young women in need of emergency housing.

An estimated 5,500 people in metro Atlanta experience homelessness on any given night. Because of partnerships with companies like Century Communities, HomeAid builds and renovates housing, providing safe and dignified homes for people experiencing homelessness.
